Visions of Home explores the question of belonging through African diasporic experience, where home exists as much in memory and yearning as in any physical place. The project emerged from our own diasporic longings, given new urgency during the pandemic’s redefinition of home and mobility. We paired early-career photographers with poets and writers to create entirely new work through collaborative process. During a year-long partnership, contributors developed photo essays, poetry, and prose navigating themes of departure and ancestry, ceremony and futurity, displacement and belonging.
